Spotlight On: Kane's Krusade

Our Member Relations Committee was pleased to surprise Kane's Krusade as our February Member Spotlight! This visit kicked off our 2025 Member Spotlight Series presented by Sunshine Village.

Founder Kim George of East Longmeadow began Kane's Krusade in 2011, named after her heart-and-soul dog, Kane. Kim has been passionate about animals from a young age, and after facing the financial encumbrance of caring for her dogs when they were ill, this made Kim think: what about people who can’t afford to feed their dogs and provide other basic care? What happens to those pet families?

With a vision of helping connect people and their pets, and to alleviate the pressure on those who are financially vulnerable, Kim was driven to do something to help other pet families - and so, Kane's Krusade non-profit was founded. Kane's Krusade's purpose is to keep beloved dogs out of shelters and with their families. Their focus is working directly with pet families who are at risk of surrendering their dog due to health or financial hardship, and to alleviate the stress they are under to keep these pet families together.

While distributing food and equipment, Kane's Krusade also created the Pet Family Advocacy™ (PET) model, which helps address the common struggles pet families face, including: finding pet-inclusive housing, accessing and affording vet care, spay/neuter services, training and other pet resources. Their annual fundraiser, the "Pawsome 5k Run-Walk" raises money to directly help those who are in need of this kind of support. Kane's is also an advocate for those with emotional support animals and service animals as well as veterans, domestic violence survivors and the unhoused.

Thank you to the wonderful crew at Kane's Krusade for all you do to!
